B.W. Van Alstyne “My God!” sputtered Alexander, his mouth agape as he now looked upon the figure he had just summoned successfully.

“Hardly, but we assure you, we can deliver the results you desire,” said the demon Aziel sardonically; its mouth stretched taught in a fiery grin.
B.W. Van Alstyne I think I would love to travel to the Sweet Lands, in my book "The Sweet Adventures of Henry P. Twist." I have such a wicked sweet tooth, and I love to bake. Also, the idea of being forever young, and an elf, is very appealing to me.
B.W. Van Alstyne I've recently read actress Tamzin Merchant's book "The Hattermakers." Also on my reading list is "The Girl In A Swing" by Richard Adams (I really enjoyed the movie and wish to get more details about "Karin" (actually Käthe in the book). I am steadily building up my audiobook collection too. I have "The Hatmakers" in that library and just finished listening to "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" by R.A. Dick. Also listened to "Chariots of the Gods" by Erich von Däniken. "The Complete Fairy Folks Tales of the Brothers Grimm" by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, which was translated by Jack Zipes.
B.W. Van Alstyne I have always had an overactive imagination, which I have, with the help of my family and friends, learned to cultivate. I tend to find my inspiration in the darnedest of places. For example, my poem, "Under the Crescent Moon," which is now a beautifully illustrated board book, came to me the evening of the 23rd of December. I looked up and saw the crescent moon in the sky and the words fell like raindrops from my mouth. I made it home with the words still fresh in my mind and write them down straight away.

B.W. Van Alstyne Just write. Sit yourself down and put something on paper (or in many cases a word document on your computer). Try not to follow trends. It's very tempting to ride on the coattails of a book that is trending and selling well. For all our sake's Please, Don't Do That! Write what you know. Write what excites you. You have your own unique voice and experience. There is an audience just for you.
B.W. Van Alstyne The best thing about being a writer is that you are able, through your words, to create new realms for you, and your readers, to visit whenever they pick up your one of your books.
B.W. Van Alstyne There are many ways I deal with writers block. One way is taking a bath. I find I have the most delicious thoughts in the tub. Another way is listening to Johnny Mathis. What can I say, his singing takes me to another place in my thoughts. His voice is very soothing.
B.W. Van Alstyne "The Sweet Adventures of Henry P. Twist" started out as an impromptu faerie tale bedtime story I would tell my daughter, who was 5 at the time. Having been a chef for over 15 years, I thought I should talk about what I knew. After a few night of telling this tale, I said to my self "Hey, this is pretty good. Maybe I need to write this down." And so I did.
