Rachael J. Hughes Write. Don't write what you think you should; write what you want to write. Let the characters come out of your head, and give them the life they are begging for. You won't have peace otherwise! Make a time to write and do it as often as you possibly can. And read in the genre of what you are writing. It will inform your work without you even having to make the effort.
Rachael J. Hughes It seems like a simple answer, but writing is the best part of writing. The feel of a pen scratching across the page, ideas flowing in ink...or even the clack of the keyboard as my fingers seamlessly tinker across the keys, almost without effort. The feeling of accomplishing something, even if it's just a paragraph. To know that I have created something, emptied my head, given my characters an outlet. That's the best part of writing.
Rachael J. Hughes Music usually gets me inspired to write. Sometimes I need silence when I'm writing, but I find the writing flows with the rhythm of the music. I use it to create a certain mood in my writing.
Rachael J. Hughes A group of writer friends and I got together and challenged one another to write a romance (none of us are/were romance novelists). I took the challenge and wrote my first forty pages that weekend!
Rachael J. Hughes I am currently working on a New Adult fiction novel; I'm in one of many editing processes, and I'm also in the process of pitching the work to publishers.
