When the creative energy isn't there at all or when it won't come out as words, I go find something else to do. It'll cycle around when my brain is ready.

Being a writer is a wild ride. You're up on a high while creating and then you crash and burn when it's over. The best thing is the highs. When the words take over and just drag you along with them.

Don't talk about writing. Write. If you cant' write, paint, draw, play with modeling clay, write music, doodle, or do something else creative. Get the creative energy flowing and when it wants to come out as words, put them on paper. Do NOT edit while creating. Save that for after the creative energy quits flowing.

Inspiration comes from many places - movies, other books, what I'm making for dinner, my cat, stuff going on outside... the list is endless. Open your eyes and see what's around you then engage your own imagination and see what happens. Ask what would happen if and see what answer you get.
