Patience and research. I wait for my life experiences and research to filter through my brain until they and it are ready to be committed to the page. You can try to force things, but I believe that when you're truly ready the writing will flow. Until then experience life and research what interests you or what your next topic is about, so you have as much material as possible at your fingertips. Know it inside and out. Writing is the easy part. Knowing what you're writing about, why you are writing it and what you hope to convey to the reader is what primes the pump.
