Hi Susan. Technically you are correct of course. They are cousins. But to my mind Georgiana was using the term as a courtesy title, because Fitzwilliam is so much older and definitely avuncular to her - one of the two 'father' substitutes in her life. I think calling someone an uncle or aunt, even if there is no blood tie at all, is often a mark of respect in a family as well. Thank you for raising the point though. I have taken it on board. Best

It needs to sit for a while. I, like you, love being in that Regency world. Meanwhile, I am in the middle of writing a novel based in Tudor times... and I hope to have that done and dusted within a year. Again, thanks for your interest
