My favorite character is Finn, the pirate captain. He's quick with comebacks and doesn't let anything bring him down for long. He carries the weight of the world on his shoulders but tries to make the best of every situation.

My inspiration for UNANCHORED came from many different places. I've been fascinated by pirates for as long as I can remember but never thought I'd write about them! The itch to dive into this world crept up on me slowly. Then, one night while watching Once Upon A Time and falling head over heels for Captain Hook, I started getting ideas about a pirate with a bad reputation who used it for good. I love stories about redemption and finding a home in an unusual place, so that's where my Cecily came into play. Give me a romance where the couple hates each other from the start, and I'm all in!

Currently, I'm working on a women's fiction about three friends who have recently turned 30 and find themselves in rotten life situations. They move in together and vow to turn things around before they turn 31. It's a story of second chances, friendship, and rediscovering life and love.
By the end of the year, I will also have a sequel to UNANCHORED. Stay tuned!

I feel like all writers give the same advice, but it's solid advice. Don't give up. The journey to publishing is full of ups and downs--with waaaaaay more downs than ups. I say all the time that if I knew how hard it would be when I first started, I never would have kept going. You have to want it and commit to it. Read for others. Get great critique partners. Edit! Edit! Edit some more!

My favorite thing about being a writer is having an outlet for my wild imagination. I could sit and daydream for hours, but being able to put it to the page and share it with others is amazing!

Whenever I get writer's block--which is often--I try to imagine scenes with my characters that WON'T make the book. Just day to day living and interactions they might have to inspire my plot. I love to play on Pinterest or listen to music that might spark my creativity. If the block is really bad, I take a break. If I ban myself from writing, it often makes me WANT to write.
