I step back. I take a walk, sometimes I take a vacation. I pick up on other hobbies like baking or photography. I keep doing something else because eventually whatever I am doing, unclogs my brain and the words want to start flowing again.

Having the ability to draw strangers into your world with your words. Sometimes, the characters, the scenes and the stories that you are writing about is the only form of comfort from the loud noise of this world. I've enjoyed years of living inside the worlds opened up to me by Stephen King and JK Rowling. And to be able to do that now brings me pure joy!

I'm currently working on something I had to research, due to the nature of the characters. It's already been such an interesting ride, having written 20k words already. And seeing how my characters have developed, surprised me very much.

I became interested in the idea of men and women becoming friends and why. My husband, for instance, said that it was always tricky being friends with a woman because for him there has to be an initial connection (whether it is a hobby he has in common with a male friend, or it's perhaps work related). I've had male friends in the past and it wasn't hard to keep things purely plutonic.
