Stephanie Spence Looks like we like to read a lot of the same subjects. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Stephanie Spence I use exercise/yoga as a way to get out of my head. It always comes down to fear. Fear that I'm not good enough, that I'm not Hemingway, that I will look silly - that I should listen to that AWFUL censor that tries to trick me into thinking that it's "the truth" - That what I have to say isn't valuable, that I don't have a voice. The "who do you think you are" critic that tries to scare me into inactivity. I push through.
Stephanie Spence The thought that I have the ability to help someone else.
Stephanie Spence Sit in your chair. Develop a ritual that works for you. Mine is waking and not using technology, journaling, reading inspiring words from writers I admire, and then sitting (even when I don't want to). Just get something on the page. Even if it's only for 15 minutes, bang something out. The first pass always will need work, but tell the ugly censor to F-off and put something on the page. You can always come back with a critical eye later. Love the work. Just "go there" and realize your voice is valuable. Claim your voice. Don't compare yourself to others. Focus + Action = Success. Believe in yourself. I'm my biggest fan.
Stephanie Spence Learning and applying what it takes to become a best selling author. Traveling for inspiration for my next book. And, of course, working on my second book which is about doing yoga for 15 minutes a day and how that can change your life.
Stephanie Spence I don't wait for inspiration, I developed a work + reward system. I sit in my chair for at least 5 hours a day, then I get a reward. Could be simply going for a walk with my dog, going to yoga or to the beach (which is 2 blocks away) but I put the work aside and enjoy my reward.
Stephanie Spence During a major life re-calibration I took a 4,000 mile "Yoga Road Trip" up the west coast of the United States practicing with and interviewing a different yoga teacher every day. I knew pretty soon into the trip I had to share this wisdom and inspiration with the world. After this initial trip I simply kept going on more YogaRoadTrips. Almost 9 years in the making, I'm extremely excited to share my insights, ideas, and lessons learned and amazing group of 115 global yoga leaders, and their unique and intimate stories with you. The book is about living your life fully. We show you how.
