I am terrible at grammar and will forever use the wrong tense of a word. Adjectives and adverbs don't make sense to me even though I understand the definitions but, I look at a sentence and I can't tell you what is what. I used to think that meant I couldn't be a writer. However what I learned though this process is to utilizing those around you and that's what makes you successful.

I typically will turn on Pandora and listen to my Bon Iver station. Then I recount in my head what I know in my book. Eventually a song will come on that strikes the mood I am looking for and I will replay that song over and over until I get the angle I need for the scene.

Music! I love listening to songs that pull at my emotions and can become the background music to make me feel the heart wrench grief or soaring freedom a character can feel in particular moments.
