(view spoiler)[I have no idea! Well, actually, some of it was from querying previous books, and thinking about how literary agents are sometimes viewed as "gatekeepers" to publishers/editors. So I thought about what would happen if there were a Gatekeeper to the Angel of Death, and went from there. (hide spoiler)]

I don't. That sounds weird. What I mean is, I'm a writer. It's what I do. I just...write. I can't imagine not writing, and even if I'd never gotten published, I'd still be a writer. It's in my DNA - you're either a writer (meaning: you write) or you aren't (meaning: you don't). So if you ARE, the inspiration is sitting somewhere with a laptop. At least, that's all I need! (That and to stop getting distracted by answering Goodreads questions.... LOL!)

Writing Book 3 of The Dead Series (DAMNING THE DEAD), while waiting for revisions on Book 2 (WAKING THE DEAD) from my editor at The Wild Rose Press, and promoting Book 1 (DEBRIEFING THE DEAD, out now). I'm also shopping a historical mystery set in 1904 in Portland, Oregon, while considering self-pubbing two contemporary romantic mysteries I wrote a while ago. So I'm not busy or anything!!

Persist, and grow a thick skin. A friend just asked if I would talk to her son about writing. He "wants to try to be a writer," but hasn't submitted anything anywhere because "it's not perfect yet." Dude - it will NEVER be perfect. And even if it was, there will still be people who hate it. Make it the way you want it to be, and then release it into the universe. If you spend all your time worrying what others will think of your writing, you're not really a writer, you're a worrier. In the immortal words of Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no try."

Being a writer.

I clean, pay bills, or do all the other things I've been avoiding around the house. It's AMAZING what I can get done, when I'm not getting any writing done! (But actually, doing all those other things frees my brain up, and usually gets me past the block. At least, it has so far! :))
