James Scott Byrnside Great question! Just kidding -- I'll be putting out the final release date along with other updates on my blog in 2 days.
James Scott Byrnside October 15th. I had planned on releasing it sooner, but like everyone else, I had my life slowed down by recent events. Of course, it now seems obvious the book should be released near Halloween, so I'm glad I waited. Thanks for the question, and I hope you enjoy the book.
James Scott Byrnside Hi, Mary. His name is Jinxy. However, like most housecats, he has a long list of endearing/insulting nicknames. Fuzzy butt, tuna breath, and kitten face are just a few of them.
James Scott Byrnside Hi Santosh,

July is the target date. I might have it ready sooner, but I'm giving myself a little more time to advertise. Also, the title has been changed to The Opening Night Murders.

Thanks for asking.
James Scott Byrnside I had written a play about twenty years ago. I came upon it and reread it. It wasn't very good, but I loved the setting (the Mississippi Flood of 1927) and I thought it would be a great place for a murder and a detective.
James Scott Byrnside I've always read murder mysteries and loved them. I know the genre isn't held in high esteem, but I don't care. I read Death of Jezebel by Christianna Brand and I was so enchanted with it that I began writing.
James Scott Byrnside I'm working on Nemesis. It isn't technically a sequel to Goodnight Irene, but it takes place in the same universe. It's also a murder mystery, but perhaps a more conventional one in terms of structure.
James Scott Byrnside These days, anyone can publish. There is no barrier between you and an audience.
James Scott Byrnside The hours. You can work whenever you want.
James Scott Byrnside When I have writer's block, I try to visualize scenes instead of writing. It will usually solve the problem.
