I love what I do so the inspiration is always there. Day to day my work is different. If I'm working on a first draft of a story, I'll use the word count goal in Scrivener to get the story on the page. Second and third drafts are about reduction and repositioning. My overall goal is to write a book per year; if I call myself a writer, I better be delivering!

COMPLETION was inspired by two powerful incidents - a teenage cult experience and a supernatural encounter in my thirties - and I first explored the concept via a short story. Once I finished the short, I knew there was a bigger story to be told. I could feel it.
In general, I loved the concept of a stranger coming into a cult; it’s an uncertain and tension filled environment. But the cult had to be more than story dressing: the plot and theme of the book needed to be integrated with it. Instead of re-treading familiar religious or polygamy angles, I based the cult on Shamanism, a mysterious practice that deals with the fascinating currency of the underworld and dovetailed perfectly with the backdrop of New Mexico.

In late 2022, my third novel will be released. The title is so good!
Prior to that, in Fall 2021, I'll be releasing my first novel of a romance trilogy written under a nom de plume. I like exploring meatier themes and concepts under my Andréa Fehsenfeld story brand, but a romance alter ego gives me creative licence to be fun and frivolous.

I have multiple books on the go. If I'm not inspired with any voices in one book, I work on another. I'm grateful because writer's block isn't a big concern; reigning in all the ideas is.
