Mickie was my inspiration. After adopting Mickie, I became a volunteer for the rescue and took Mickie to events and home visits. Watching him engage with people, kids, and other pets and disarming those who were not sure of either dogs or German Shepherds was beautiful.

Being Different Rocks! touches on the life of Mickie-D, a German Shepherd Dog I adopted from a rescue. Due to his medical condition Mickie looked and walked different than other dogs. People always asked if his feet bothered him or if he was in pain. I would share stories of Mickie running up the stairs, splashing through the creek and jumping over fallen trees along the creek behind our home. Even if he tripped, he kept going with a big smile.
I believe Mickie’s story could speak to all of us about embracing our differences and positively rocking them.

I am not currently working on a book, but I am writing a little bit every day. Some days it is just a thought I have or a feeling I am experiencing; others, it is about one of my dogs or something a friend has said.
