Kristin Fields The journey! As the book unfolds, so do truths about yourself and the world we share.
Kristin Fields With A Lily in the Light, I knew the title before I knew what the rest of the book was about. The title became a question I worked backwards to answer. There's really two types of inspiration: the kind that "sparks" when you're going about your day, and the kind that comes from patient, persistent writing. They both work together in their own right.
Kristin Fields A few years ago, I made a New Years resolution to write one page per day. At first, one page per day was challenging enough, and when it wasn't, I started writing more. Write everyday, especially when you don't feel like it. Join writing groups. Read. The books on our nightstands have a funny way of telling us where our writing wants to go. And be patient. Writing and rewriting a book is a long, slow process. As is editing and being published. It takes time to grow as a writer, but it happens a little bit everyday, with every word.
Kristin Fields Just keep writing! Word count challenges are excellent for this. Setting a goal to write 50,000 words in one month, like NaNoWriMo, means putting words on the page whether you're happy with them or not. It's amazing what bubbles up when you've got a word count to meet.
