Maggie Aldrich If I can't think of a single thing to write, I go over what I've already written and edit. Usually this spurs some creativity or just allows me to keep everything fresh in my mind.
Maggie Aldrich The freedom to write whatever the heck you want. I always laugh in my book club when people say, "Why do you think this (fictional) character did this?" and then they speculate and create their own stories. My answer is always, "Because that's what the author wanted them to do." Plain and simple.
Maggie Aldrich You didn't major in English and Creative Writing in college? Who cares! Just start writing. Ask for feedback from other indie authors. Go over your work again and again and again. If you would like to read what you've written, others will as well. Haters gonna hate. Don't let them get you down.
Maggie Aldrich A piece of speculative fiction. A comical, poignant tale of a mother-daughter relationship that goes from toxic to trusting with the help of a little 1980's time travel.
Maggie Aldrich Sometimes—well, most of the time—I have an overactive imagination. One thought, idea or experience leads to about 1.431 "what ifs"! My ideas come from minor life experiences that the creative side of my brain runs away with.
Maggie Aldrich Generally when I am feeling highly emotional, whether anxious, angry, or extremely happy, I get the best ideas and jot things down. I have to be in the "mood" to write, but I make myself take notes all of the time when ideas hit.
