Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Z.Z. LaFourche I spent 5 years closely following the animals you read about, up close and personal. Each has their own unique way of doing things. You can see examples in the game camera videos and pics posted on our website www.Betweentheshoals.com To answer the above question more directly: I let my immigration wonder how these animals would react to the everyday problems of life. Now that was fun!

What are you currently working on?

Z.Z. LaFourche Sequel to Between The Shoals. Our animal friends are back but a new conflict develops away from the Shoals. Far to the south on the gulf coast.
Two main groups of animals find themselves at odds over their religious beliefs. The historical background is taken from the persecution and exodus of the Acadian people from Nova Scotia. As before, a group of these Cajun decedents are forced to flee. They did not plan to get involved, but our fun loving animal characters of the Shoals get pulled into the conflict. This will be a somewhat darker story than the original. Finding us all standing in the shadows of religion, greed and power that confound the progress of societies everywhere.
