P.S. Nicholls For me the best thing to do was to write one line. Try to sum the story up in one line. Then I expanded it. I've read somewhere about the snowflake method and for the first few stages it helped me focus on the story and the practical side of getting words on the page. However, after a while I just sat and wrote and when I did the story and the imagination just flowed. So start with one line and then another and before you know it you have a story. Either that or find a couple of children to badger you every week about how much more you have written!
P.S. Nicholls So far I've been lucky and haven't come across this in any big way. There have been a few moments where I felt the words were being dragged out of me but I just wrote a line and then another and before long something special had come out of nowhere. It's a very rewarding process and has taught me a lot about my own imagination.
P.S. Nicholls So far for me the best thing has been the workshops where I have been able to do readings to different children's classes in schools. The way the book has been received and the excitement they have all had in the questions they've asked has been amazing!
P.S. Nicholls Having written the first book it is only natural to follow this on with a sequel, the working title of which is "The Children of the Crystal Kingdom". I'm not going to say too much about it here but it pretty much continues where the first book ends but it sees a variety of other children show up from all over the world.
P.S. Nicholls My most recent book is my first book and was inspired by a number of things but most of all by my children. I wanted to create a modern day fantasy world that my children could escape to. Having spent time at Disneyland and the zoo during the school summer holidays we all started talking about how amazing it would be if there was another world full of magical and mythical animals like unicorns and dragons or talking lions. I wanted to create a world that would leave a smile on peoples faces and bring more magical imaginative places into their lives.

There is also an element of being the best version of yourself that you can be, coping with loss or disappointment and managing your emotions. My hope is that children all over the world and their parents will read this book and be inspired to live a life of love and kindness and become anything they want to be.
