Read a ton of books from your target genre and really study how other authors describe characters, blend dialogue, transition scenes, bring the characters to life and draw the reader in. Write about things that you're passionate about. Create real, flawed but noble characters you care about and know deeply. Start small. Create a scene first and polish it. Create an outline for your work. Know the end of your story before you begin. Share what you've written and get honest feedback, but not too soon. Make sure it's fully baked and ready for consumption. Keep writing, but only if you love it and can't live without doing it.

One of the greatest aspects of writing for me has been to create real characters, who really grow, love, experience and feel. The best part is when I see others get to know them, feel with them, cheer for them and love them.

I usually just pick a different part of the story to focus on and then the block goes away. I have been fortunate to not have writer's block very often.
