If this need to record the workings of your imagination is not a fire inside you, a pull you cannot resist, and if the voices in your head telling you what comes next, whether speech or action, maybe this isn't for you.
But if you're lit from the inside, eager, hungry for the space to write, to tell your story, and share your insight, then whatever you do, DON'T STOP WRITING! It isn't easy, but nothing good ever is.
DON'T STOP WRITING!
Research is essential, immersing yourself in your genre an absolute necessity, but nothing is as important as getting words on a page/screen.

I'm a walking curious cat. Everything is interesting, whether it's a video clip on TikTok, a gif on Tumblr, music on YouTube, a board on Pinterest, or a scene in a book I'm reading, there's always something to make me sit up and pay attention.
And of course, my own life is not without its inspiring moments, whether good or bad. I live in the sticks -- there are literally a lot of sticks around my house just now, because it's winter and we live in the woods on a dirt road. I'm awed by the beauty of nature during all the seasons, but in winter, when so much of it is bared to the eyes, I get to see and marvel afresh at stuff I'd never see in the summer.
And when life happens, like a death in the family, or a marriage or engagement, I'm there for the inspiration as well. Living is how I find story ideas, and I make note of them all. whether or not they ever make it into a book of mine, at least they're recorded for when I need them.

As you know, I write erotic romance, aka romantica. I write a sex scene when I'm stuck and don't know where to go. Usually, that unclogs the pipes, so to speak, and don't they say in all the best romance novels that sex does that for real? LOL!
If writing a sex scene doesn't work, then I do some research about a different book. Taking my mind off the thing that's hindering me is another way to get back in the game. I guess my characters get jealous of the time I'm spending on people other than them. :))

I enjoy the work of Tal Bauer and in one of his series, as well as in another of his novels, he featured members of the White House. I was intrigued by the idea, and by the challenges that people who live and work there must face in their private relationships. I got the idea about writing about one of them from him. My novella which will come out on January 5th 2022, is about the son of the President.
