I read other books in my genre to get inspired. Sometimes (try, a lot of times) the editing wears me down and I have to take a break. Again, I read another author's work to clear my mind and escape. It usually helps motivate me to get back to work.

Risk Worth Taking - Book Three in Music For The Heart. My family took a trip to a ranch in the California mountains. It was beautiful and we had an amazing time. I wanted my characters to experience the fun we had in a peaceful and nature-filled setting. Of course their experience was very different than my family's! But we all had fun in different ways :)

Entering the mind of my characters, similar to an actor portraying a role. Being the director of how scenes will play out. Allowing my imagination to run wild and go where it wants to.
