Richard Regan I just try to write, anything, no matter how poor it seems at the time. The act of writing seems to stimulate the imagination.
Richard Regan Having served in the merchant marine and visited many Far East ports I was familiar with the mileu. I have also always been attracted to the era of the tramp steamer and fascinated by the ships and the men who made their living in them. I wanted to write a nautical adventure thriller and my own experience and interests pulled me down the path.
Richard Regan I wanted to write from when I was a child. I loved writing essays at school and even started one or two boys own adventure stories that never saw the light of day. After I retired I was able to devote the proper time and effort to writing, and finally completed my first novel.
Richard Regan My second novel, which will be both prequel and sequel to Oriental Vagabonds.
Richard Regan Write, write and write some more. It's like training for a marathon. The more you write the easier it gets and the better you writing becomes. And read too. Especially those authors in your preferred genre.
