By stepping away from the story long enough to let my brain process the part that isn't working and come up with a solution without trying to pressure myself or force the story. I'll either work on a different project or do something else entirely while I let things simmer in the back of my mind. 99% of the time that break is what I needed, and the part that was blocking me resolves itself as soon as I step back and get some perspective.
