Hi! Thank you for your question! I’m glad to hear you appreciated the ending. When I started writing Shadow Soul I had no plans for a second book (or its ending), but once I finished it I felt the story wasn’t quite finished. I was around half way through writing Shifting Shadows once its ‘unusual’ ending came to me. I initially had a vague idea of a different ending but once playing out various endings in my head, this one felt like the right direction to go with for the story.

The idea for Shadow Soul came as the character first. She popped into my head as this person who inserts herself into people's lives for a little while and then disappears. Then came the opening scene and the story evolved from there. Admittingly, the actual plot has changed massively from when I first started writing it, but the basic idea—overcoming, not giving up, rising from the ashes—has been the thin red line running throughout the writing process.
