(view spoiler)[I have really enjoyed reading your books based on my favourite
Emperor.
I can’t help wondering though if you are going to get to the time of his ruling of the Roman Empire and if so, how are you going to treat his end, given that he was assassinated.
All the time I read your books and think to myself ‘ who is the betrayer ?’
Surely not among his friends ! (hide spoiler)]

Hi MM
I try to stay close to the historical thread of the time, but having said that, I also endeavor to keep it simple. For that reason, some of the actual role players of the time are replaced by fictional characters to spice up the story.
The story will continue up to the very end because (as you know) Aurelian achieved things that would have been unthinkable at that time. Some of the exchanges in the current books are aimed to set the scene for the grand finale.
I think about the conclusion of the tale often. The challenge is to end the story on a positive note without taking liberties with the actual history. I have something in mind, but you will have to wait and see...
Also, I might add, I often start a book with a basic plan but halfway along the line the characters throw the plan out the window and I have to come up with other ideas.
I am almost certain that the real Aurelian did not travel as far east as Lucius did in Issedonian, but he could have. For this reason I will spice up the "dead period" of the third century crisis with some adventures to explore the political situation in other parts of the world. It adds to the bigger picture of what was going on in the world during that time.
I hope to have book ten available before the end of the year.
Thank you for the question and your support.

Hi Norman
Only noticed your comment a minute ago.
Thank you for letting me know.
I am working on the third book in the erilaR series. This installment will be called "War God from the Sea".
I expect it do be available during March of this year. After that, I will start on the ninth book in the Thrice Named Man series.
All the best.

Hi Jane
Good to hear from you.
All my books are available in paperback, but only on Amazon.
I have been toying with the idea of enrolling the paperbacks in expanded distribution via Amazon, which will make them available on a wider range of platforms. The problem is that the price will increase, which is not ideal.
Kind regards.

Hi Donald,
Good to hear from you.
Not sure if you know, but I have just published book VI of the series, called Roman.
There will definitely be more books in the Thrice Named Man series. I do not know how many, but I guess there will be five more at the least.
I did introduce a new series earlier in the year that kicks off in the year 453 AD, at the time of the death of Attila the Hun. I am currently writing the second book in this series, called erilaR.

Thank you Bern. I too enjoy to read (and from recently) to write about history. It is great to know that it is appreciated.
I try not to deviate from the core history while weaving a tale that is enjoyable.
Kind regards.

Hi Donald,
No I don't.
I sent an extract of my fourth book to an editor, with less than satisfactory results.
I have contacted a fellow writer of historical fiction in an effort to procure their editor's services. I am currently pursuing this avenue. (maybe not in time for 4th book)
I write as a hobby, but still wish to deliver a satisfactory product to my readers.
English is my second language, but I believe that you will nonetheless see an improvement in the fourth installment, as my proficiency increases.
Thanks for the positive comments and I am in full agreement that there are some flaws to iron out.
Kind regards.

Hi Jane,
I will be releasing the second book in the series later this month. When that's done and dusted, I plan to release the first book in paperback format.
It will be a first for me.
It certainly is a different experience reading a paperback... the main reason I read eBooks is the ease and speed of getting hold of them... especially in my part of the world.
I will let you know as soon as Part I is available.
I prefer to read HF that is for the most part aligned with the facts and also prefer the later centuries (2nd, 3rd, 4th), although most of what I have read probably falls within the Julio-Claudian/Caesar time, simply because more books set in this era seems to be available. (I think.)
In any event, thanks for the question and happy reading.

Just start writing... it kinda feels like reading...the only difference is you get to choose the outcome.

The nomads of the Eurasian steppes had always fascinated me and writing about the Third Century Crisis provided the opportunity to combine it with the history of the Roman Empire.
