Gabrielle Jarrett Many years ago, I was flying home from Portland after being present at the birth of my first grandson. As I reflected on his loving and welcomed entry into the world, I was struck by the fact that it certainly isn't that way for many babies and moms. Perhaps I could write about a woman searching for the child she was forced to give up because she was sixteen. The movie "Philomena" came out. I read about cults. Blood Draw gestated until I joined the Mac's Backs Fiction Writers Group.
Gabrielle Jarrett My fiction writers' group. I feel a responsibility to show up with something new. I let my mind wander and stare out the window at the green. I read.
Gabrielle Jarrett I am currently thinking about my second novel which will interweave the history of the patriarchy and modern day expressions of it.

Read. Reading stimulates writing. Reading about writing stimulates it more.

Gabrielle Jarrett I don't believe in writer's block. For me, it is procrastination. I also think the Morning Pages (Julia Cameron) prevents writer's block.
Gabrielle Jarrett Seeing my book in print! Having manifested a childhood dream. It makes me smile.
