Corey Burns Sorry I did not answer this sooner. I am just now seeing it. I am also sorry that I don't have a very good answer for you. I really can't think of any mystery in my life.
Corey Burns The corrections were uploaded yesterday. I am trying to get Amazon to send the corrected version out to people who have already purchased the ebook. This was a rookie mistake. I worked on this book for a very long time and was anxious to get it out there. I thought that I had found and corrected all of the errors. I was wrong. I apologize. Next time, I will have my editor or someone else do a proofread of my final product before I publish.
Corey Burns Not very well. I started many books in my life. I never got more than twenty or so pages through each. Then, in my forties I got to work on Hick Lawyer. It took me more than five years to finish it. I think the next one will be much sooner because I now know so much more about the characters and how the story will go.
Corey Burns Just do it. Get a composition book and just start writing. Even if you go months at a time without writing in it, go back when the mood strikes and keep at it. It is a marathon, not a sprint. When you finish that, type it up and make all the changes you think are necessary. Hire an editor to look at it then and make suggestions. Just keep at it. And, know that the finished product will be much better and much different than the first draft.
Corey Burns I am currently working on a second Hick Lawyer story. It is a little darker and focuses as much on a new character as it does Dexter. This one may turn out to be as much of a crime/noir work as a legal procedural. I hope to write a total of at least three Hick Lawyer novels. I would then like to write something Southern. I have lived in Nebraska for almost twenty years now, but I will always be a southerner.
Corey Burns I am inspired to write the same way I am inspired to cook a nice meal or paint a picture or even mow my yard or plant a garden. It is just something that I want to do and feel like I need to do. It is fun sometimes. It is also hard work sometimes.
Corey Burns I am a small town attorney. I am currently a full time public defender. For about seven years of my career, I was a part time public defender with a small private practice on the side, much like Dexter Smith. My wife was a DHHS case worker for 13 years. We met in court. I have always wanted to write and finally had something to write about. I wanted to write something that shows what the life of a lawyer is really like in a small town while still being interesting and entertaining.
