Jami Lilo If I'm struggling with a particular story or topic, I'll switch to something else. I will sometimes have multiple projects going at once, so I kind of work around writer's block and don't force a project if it's not coming to me in an organic way.

I have a series of non-fiction books that are published, which feeds my writing passion in a different way than writing novels. Write blogs. Write short stories. Write on a post it note. Write what is bursting out of your soul.

Jami Lilo I was going through a particularly tough time and saw a mug that said, "I'd rather be a mermaid." In that moment, I so got it. I wanted to run from my life and the situation I was in and become a mermaid. And so I wrote about it, but made it from a teenage daughter's perspective.
