Christopher Sergi I write almost every day. I blog almost as much as I work on my novels, so there's always something new I'm working on.

My blog chrissergi.com focusses on my daily real world passion of Ethical Evolution, the idea humanity can excel with the Earth instead of against it.

When I'm not working on my blog, I turn my attention to my Everscape series - Everscape: The Scent of Sin (Working Title), which is the followup of Everscape: The Wings of Embra, currently available at Amazon.

I also have a few writing buddies, one of which is helping to co-write an exciting, yet arguably controversial action comedy novel - Adam and the Goat, which shall be available towards the end of 2018, fingers crossed.
Christopher Sergi For me, being a writer is all about two things: entertaining both yourself and your readers, and also portraying an underlying passion within a theme.

I'll admit I'm not terribly extroverted and I am prone to bottling up my thoughts on people and things around me, and the best way I find to express my feelings (yes, guys have feelings too, ha!) is to write about them, as a musician would play an instrument or an artist would create a painting.

Not only that, but as a writer, (as most writers would agree) it's a great opportunity for creativity. It's fun to paint up worlds, characters and events, and best of all, they're all yours, they're something to be proud of and something to cherish.
Christopher Sergi Sometimes I open a blank word document on my computer, start with the small idea I had to begin with, then just churn out anything that happens to organically pop into my head. It's amazing what you can come up with when you give yourself a processable task.

Either that, or I'll simply put it all away and read a book or watch a movie. Again it's surprising what one can think of when they indulge in someone else's work.
Christopher Sergi Be prepared for the reality of writing. It's easy to get lost in the moment when you decide there and then you want to be a writer. Believe me I know. The first thing aspiring writers have to work with is their passion to create something, though just like any business, the writing business is a business, it's tough work and it comes tough expectations.

But don't let that spoil your fun, honestly. Writing is so rewarding and enjoyable once you have the basics of how to actually do it.

The first thing I would work on, is your protagonist's goal. What is the the one thing your protagonist needs or wants, and this thing has to be tangible, physical almost.

For example, your character may want to be loved, but this is more of an emotional motivation, the thing driving your character to their goal. More realistically, your character's goal will want to get married, for example, "because" they want to be loved.

You can do this process for all your characters, especially your antagonist. Once you've got your characters sorted out, it's time to learn plotting and scene structure, then you can move into all the other elements of storytelling, like pacing, stakes, tension and so forth.

Then comes the business part of writing, which is getting the book ready for either self-publication or traditional publishing.

This could be a very long post, but let's leave it here for now. Just be sure of one thing: you must want to be a writer so bad that you can't live without doing so.
