When I was running outside in a quiet, lake house community, I was struck by the fact that I was running on "gifts." Everything around me and beneath me was a gift. And then I started looking at all of life as a gift. That's where The Book of Giving came from.

Honestly, a lot of the inspiration comes out of "nowhere," or enters when I'm doing something seemingly unrelated to the topic. I get a lot of ideas from my favorite authors though. My thinking is heavily influenced by Vern Poythress and Kenneth Pike.
