When my son was 3 he discovered Owls and fell in love. A year later he started to tell us stories about Owl Boy, Shark Boy, Deer Girl and the "League of Rescuers." Back in those days the Rescuers were generally in the business of saving baby animals from things like tornadoes, broken wind turbines, and erupting volcanoes. Mostly what I was writing at the time were short horror stories (see VINE WORLD, also available here on Amazon, for example) but listening to my son spin yarns about the latest chick, puppy, or lamb to be rescued from a pyrocastic lava flow got me thinking...
A few months later, I had a rough draft of OWL BOY AND THE VOODOO PRIEST. This series, and yes it will be a series, is darker and a little scarier than the stories my son used to tell (the baby animals are sitting this one out). But it's also a ton of fun, it's set in one of the world's great cities, and I think the character is ultimately true to the spirit of the original Owl Boy and his friends... The League of Rescuers!!!

I'm currently working on finishing the OWL BOY series. Book One, OWL BOY AND THE VOODOO PRIEST is available now, exclusively on Kindle Select. But during Owl Boy breaks I like to get back to my short horror stories. VINE WORLD was something I wrote on an OWL BOY break and I'm currently working on a scary story about a killer tree, which I see as a companion piece to VINE WORLD... I guess I have a thing about murderous vegetation... whaddaya gonna do?
