Hi Jenni. I am a Spanish reader and I have read Unpregnant. Congratulations!! I loved that you touch the issue of abortion so naturally. I have seen that Unpregnant 2 is not a sequel but, my question is, will Veronica appear at some point in history?

Jenni Hendriks Veronica doesn’t appear in the book. But there is one reference to Unpregnant in Save Steve that readers might notice.

Are any of the characters in the book inspired by real life people?

Jenni Hendriks The ferret is absolutely based on a real ferret I met once.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jenni Hendriks Unpregnant: NPR had a report about Illinois passing a law that kept minors from getting an abortion without their parents. This meant if you're a teen in the midwest your closest options were, like, New Jersey and New Mexico. So I texted Ted and said, "What if someone took a road trip to get an abortion?" And Ted said, "That sounds sad." And I said, "We'll make it funny!"

That was in 2012. Oh my god we've been writing this for so freaking long.

Book Two: Ted and I wondered, "What is the stupidest thing a guy could do to try to impress a girl?"

How do you get inspired to write?

Jenni Hendriks I open up my computer and stare at the screen until I panic that I'll never write anything again and then just start typing words.

Jenni Hendriks Answering these questions. And procrastinating on our second book. I'm excellent at that.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jenni Hendriks Keep writing until you get good. Even if someone tells you you're not good. People told me I wasn't. But I kept writing. And eventually I got good enough to convince people to actually pay me to do this. Which is pretty nice. Because, now I don't have to wear pants.
