I don't know if I am necessarily in a position to be advising aspiring writers yet. Also, I believe it depends greatly upon what your goals are as a writer. For instance, sometimes I write for ME and sometimes I write for my characters. When I write for me, it is to release demons. When I write for my characters, it is to tell their story and bring them to life. If I obtain those objectives, I consider that success. I do not feel publishing your writings is what qualifies you as a writer, nor financial success; if you are writing, then you are a writer. In my opinion, the difference between an aspiring writer and a writer, is simply picking up the pen.

Writing, for me, is healing and frees my soul. The best thing about being a writer is that the process delivers me peace and answers to questions I never knew I was searching for.

When I am feeling creatively exhausted, I try to remain productive by gathering more research on the time period specifics I am writing in; either via internet search engines, text books, or watching documentaries. Also, chocolate helps. Lotssss of chocolate... Haha!

I have several other stories in the works, but at this moment I am undecided which I want most to commit to finishing.

I have always written, ever since I learned how to wield a pencil and phonetically spell words. Before even that development, I recall verbally creating simple, childish, poems and songs. I've always had a passion for the poetic power of words. I do not know what outside example could have influenced me as a child, because writing certainly was not a hobby encouraged in my family. I've always just felt the inclination to write and so have always done.

All of my manuscript ideas generally come to me in my sleep. I dream of characters and then write them down and build their story as soon as I get a chance to put pen to paper (or fingertips to keys, rather, in recent years, haha).
