Michael Calabrese Interesting question. I think I've only got one thing I would have changed. I would have started writing fiction much earlier in life. The joy of creative writing makes up a large part of life and I would have had it sooner. I write for a living (business writing, government contracting, grants, and such). Fiction is harder work but SO much more satisfying.

Michael Calabrese It's always good to have more than one project going. Everyone hits the wall when writing. One project may be developing nicely as a draft, and another could be notes or research - or another draft. Being able to switch off means I can change channels while still writing.
Michael Calabrese I tell friends that writing fiction is my big chance to act upon my schizophrenia. That's a joke, but maybe not so much. Writing fiction means that you spend your life wandering around having deep and often intimate conversations with people no one else knows... All characters come from their writers. It's strange to think about how many "mes" there are out there.

Michael Calabrese Don't quit your day job, and never stop writing, no matter what anyone says.
Michael Calabrese I've got a couple of projects going, a sword and sorcery trilogy (don't we all???), and a modern-day science fiction book - a warning against combining genetic engineering and AI in humans.
Michael Calabrese I actually write for a living. I'm a freelancer writing federal government contract proposals, grants, business articles, and white papers. All that is for clients. I like fiction much more.
Michael Calabrese I'm a big fan of British detective stories (we watch a lot of BBC/PBS shows). I also wanted to incorporate my experiences in Britain's West Country (Wiltshire, Somerset, Cornwall, etc...). I did it in Bracan's Daughter.
