My personal take on this is that air quotes here : “ Inspiration” is a hoax.
Either you’re writing or you aren’t.

Don’t wait for permission. Do the project.
Don’t work on a “magnum opus”. Do smaller things first, finish them and build up to the bigger ones.

Usually I step away from what I’m writing for a bit. Distance always provides a little more clarity . Stepping away for a bit provides a fresh look at what I’ve already written and where I was planning on going with it.
