Tim Bouverie I was inspired by reading some of the great diarists of the 1930s - Harold Nicolson, Duff Cooper, Chips Channon. I thought there was was a gap in the market for a narrative history of appeasement, told from contemporary sources and that there would be some new materials in the archives - particularly relating to the amateur diplomats. On this last point I was delighted to be right.
Tim Bouverie The oft quoted line about genius being 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration is true. NOT that I am in any way saying that I am a genius! Just that if you only write when you feel inspired then you may be waiting a long time. Just get it down on paper - you can always go back and improve it later.

Tim Bouverie Don't give up! Writing is hard at the best of times but writing your first book can be particularly daunting. But by writing 500 or so words a day it eventually gets done.
