Maria Wälsäter This is such a hard question - there are so many amazing fictional worlds out there. It feels somewhat wrong to answer it with Elysia (Swe: Elysien, from my own fantasy trilogy about Doressea) but seeing as it is my actual happy place where I go when reality becomes too harsh, I think I have to reply with just that. If I had never created Elysia, I'd probably pick Hogwarts.
Maria Wälsäter All she knew was that she wasn't alive - the question was how long she'd been dead. Had her entire life been the opposite of a life?

Maria Wälsäter In 2013, when my own life got turned upside down, I needed to find some kind of meaning again. I was unable to change my own situation, for the time being. I wrote a story to be able to write my own story.

The idea itself followed me around for many years before I started writing. I can't even remember when or where it was born, but it's been one helluva ride.
Maria Wälsäter Short answer: anything and everything that tickles my imagination.

When a seed has been planted, I need to let it grow. Else I'd go insane in a matter of days.
Maria Wälsäter A side project related to Doressea that will release in between "Avien" and "Stjärnfödd" (early 2019).

It is in some aspects a spoiler-free compendium to the actual trilogy, with lots of juicy details and information and cameos by characters you already know. At the same time it is its' own story that you will be able to read as a stand-alone if so desired.

Come ride the hype train with me!
Maria Wälsäter Don't be so hard on yourselves. Perfection is, and always will be, unachievable. Good enough is good enough.

Use all that inevitable doubt, your own and others', as fuel. One day, you'll get to prove everyone wrong, yourself included.
Maria Wälsäter I get to be in charge and depend on myself. I'm the driver and the only one who can screw things up royally, literally and figuratively. When I don't, all the cred is mine.
Maria Wälsäter I believe the trick is to not let temporary blocks become more permanent. Give the block a couple of days to extinguish itself - sometimes a break is well-needed.

If the block refuses to go away you need to force yourself back into productivity. Do a couple of fun writing exercises, write something different, write from another perspective...

Every author suffer from writer's block from time to time. Those who tell you otherwise are most likely lying.
