I write the stories I want to read. Stories that inspire you. Stories that are uplifting. Stories that deal with morality.
I promote strong female characters. I promote people of color in leading roles. I promote diversity in culture, age, sexuality, and religion.
I want adults (young and old) to read my stories and be able to relate to one of the main characters. Representation matters. It reminds people that they belong.

Write as often as you can until you are writing daily. Whether it's lists, poems, story outlines or scenes, just keep exerting that creative "muscle."
The more you write, the easier the words will flow. The easier the words flow, the easier the right words will come to mind.
I don't always like my first draft, and that's okay! My polished story is often after three or four drafts. It's a process, enjoy it.

My debut novel, This Time, was inspired by the question, "What if a hero made the ultimate sacrifice and then was asked to do it again?"
I wanted to explore a hero's motivations and limits. Nadira Holden, the main character in This Time, is resurrected and asked to join a seemingly endless fight between unsuspecting humans and predatory demons.
