Having a publisher actually express an interest in my scribbling was a thrill. Then seeing the book in print, holding it in my hands... well that felt pretty good too.

I've never felt like I truly had writer's block. But the few times I would feel a bit stuck on the story I would move to a different chapter and work on something. Just keep working on something, I'd tell myself.

I spent years working in bush Alaska, people seemed interested in hearing about the life and people. I was inspired to write about the experience by people who would say, 'You should write a book', or something similar. I was also inspired by a friend who is an author, John Straley. His encouragement was instrumental in moving forward with Bush Blues.
