J.L. Nicely The phase may sound clichéd, but every person needs to find their groove. My grove is writing first thing in the morning. Lots of people such as myself have a regular job or family life that demands attention. I started getting up earlier to get several hours of writing in before my “other day” began. I wrote at least six days a week. I didn’t write thousands of words a day, but I did work slowly and methodically toward my goal.
J.L. Nicely At present, I am writing the second book in the Womara series. At the end of my first book, I wasn’t sure about a series, but I realized that there was so much more of the story to tell. The characters take on a life of their own, and they wanted to continue. The second book outline just flowed, and the writing has been very enjoyable.
J.L. Nicely My decision to write my novel Unconquered Warrior started out as a personal challenge to myself. I had never imagined myself as an author but certainly a person with a very imaginative mind. I loved to create stories in my head, and the basic premise of a clan of fighting warrior women had been kicking around in my head for years before I began writing the story. I envisioned my stories running like a full-length movie. One day I challenged myself to take the plot from daydreaming to paper.

The journey of writing requires a lot of hard work, focus, and discipline. You have to overcome your self-doubt, face criticism and use feedback to grow as a writer. The day I held the printed copy of my book in my hand was a wonderful feeling of accomplishment.
