Chris Roland I don't experience writer's block - I look at moments when I can't get through a section as an opportunity for my mind to work on what it is I really want to say, and how to say it, rather than a block. Maybe we should call it 'writer's pause'; I trust it will come when it needs to come. When I get stuck on one section, I don't have a problem jumping to another section, and when I do that I find that I am able to continue, while that other section percolates in the back of my mind.
Chris Roland The peaceful isolation, the knowledge that I am writing for the betterment and enjoyment of others, the immersion into the creative mind and heart, and the freedom.
Chris Roland Write! And, decide from the very beginning what kind of writer you want to be. Having been a business owner all my life with loads of soul-crushing responsibilities, as I begin this new phase of my life as an author (I've been a writer for many years), I decided I wanted control of my personal and professional life, and I didn't want a lot of responsibility that would take away from my creative enjoyment, passion, and free time. I have set my new path up to support this, rejecting anything that infringes upon this. For aspiring writers, it's important to know exactly what you want to achieve, then set that in motion and live it in the moment.
Chris Roland Writing books is a career shift for me, brought on by the events that 'It's Not Personal' is based on. I am currently actively writing three books, and have ideas I am toying with for ten others. The next book to release 'The New Paradigm for Better Living - The Seven Goals'. The book provides a roadmap for change leading to the seven goals; love, happiness, peace, health, prosperity, gratitude, and true freedom. The focus is on attaining these in abundance in whatever form they come, leaning towards giving and detachment, and away from taking and attachment.
Chris Roland I am inspired by what I feel passionate about. I don't look for inspiration. I keep my mind and heart open, and in that state, inspiration comes, and when I feel the need to focus on one direction, I trust that and go with it. Life's too short to vacillate.
Chris Roland The book itself provides the answer. This is a memoir of a specific recent time during the production of a film that plunged my life into utter chaos. I felt compelled to write it all down for two reasons, a) To inspire others, and b) To expose what happened - I did not expect to become a whistleblower.
