My most recent book to be released is Bait, and you can download it at Amazon on November 26. I took a cruise with my family to Bermuda, and fell in love with the island and the people who crossed my path. My imagination took it from there!

For me, I can’t give a definitive answer to this question. I wake up at 3 a.m. with an idea or complete scene and have to write it down. Or something pings in my brain while I’m cooking that requires me to stop what I’m doing, and at least jot down the high points. I suppose that’s why I feel that the need/urge/desire to write is an internal energy. It’s personal.

I’m re-working one of my first complete stories. My earlier fiction writing centered around novels, until I realized that I have an issue with the length of typical novels. I am seriously attention-deficit! My stories would start and end with a nice pop, but the middle — not so much. Eventually I figured out that it takes fewer words for me to tell my stories.

I know much of the advice for aspiring writers is to keep writing. As writers, though, we are creative people. My daughter regularly reminds me of this. Creativity for me is an internal energy that has to be nurtured. I cannot create, just to create. I stoke my energy by regularly finding the time to do things I enjoy.

I take a break and go for a walk, weather permitting, or call a good friend I haven’t talked to for a while and catch up. When I’m happy, centered, and connected, my creative energy builds and there is no writer’s block.
