Jennifer Ann Shore Hi Alexa! There's a link on my website where readers can sign up to join my ARC team and get free copies to review new releases and/or books on my backlist (such as "Perfect Little Flaws"). <3
Jennifer Ann Shore With today's release of "In The Now," my first new adult romance, I'm hopping back into the young adult world for a bit. I'm working on the big, scary first draft of the "Metallic Red" sequel while my editor is tearing apart what will be my next release (a standalone YA romcom that MIGHT be my favorite book yet).

Typically, I have at least one book I'm drafting while another is being edited and another is being designed/proofread/prepared for release. As much as I like to romanticize being a writer, I'm kind of an assembly line at this point! But it's a lot of fun. :)
Jennifer Ann Shore I've had a longtime obsession with the world of vampirism, and I've always wanted to write a vampire book. (I even went on a trip to New Orleans one Halloween to meet Living Vampyres and took a course in college called Vampires in Film & Television.)

"Metallic Red" is actually the only book of mine that I sat down to intentionally write — all others have come from dreams or random ideas I pulled from. I knew I wanted to tell a vampire story that honored the genre and legacy but stood on its own. Part of that led me to want to tell a story from a vampire's perspective yet make it relatable, so I created Mina's character (Mina after Mina Harker in Bram Stoker's "Dracula") as a half-human, half-vampire.

She's spent her entire life being raised by vampires and she knows who she is (and what is expected of her for the future) in that world, but I wanted to find out what happened if she explored her humanity. How awkward would it be to try to fit in? What would it be like to defy your natural instincts and try not to sink your teeth in your friends? How could you possibly balance these two worlds and find your place in them?

That's what I set out to accomplish with this book — in addition to having a lot of fun characters and scenes (graham cracker debates! homecoming! vampire clubbing!) along with my typical strong female/feminist agenda. :)
Jennifer Ann Shore There are a total of three (and a half — a novella of Julian and Luca) books planned for the series. The second book "Rip Current" will be out in August or September. Stay tuned! :)
