My advice to aspiring authors; join a writers group for support and keep your eyes and ears open, there are stories everywhere. Also, be sure to have your cell phone note app ready for when the story idea strikes. Or a notepad. You'll want to be able to jot it down as quickly as possible. I've lost an idea or two because I wasn't prepared. Be prepared and never give up on your dreams.

Writer's block for me generally comes after the third act. Since I'm not a plotter, I don't ever know how the story is going to end. So, I take a day or a week to let my characters guide me. I will focus on my family or start writing my next book. And then suddenly, it hits me, and I finish the book.
