K.B. Pellegrino I was born one year less a day after my sister who died at three months old. My mom was in deep grief. The grief showed in many ways: she did not shop for my clothes. May dad did. I am the middle child of five children who lived. I have an older sister who was much like my mother. I admired my mother but could not seem to please her despite my successes. A story lived by others and each of us addressed the loss in different ways. I loved my mother but had to settle for last in her affections. My parents celebrated my birthday for sixteen years on my dead sister's birthday. When I realized I had the wrong birthday and complained, I was said to be too dramatic over a small mistake. Grief denied is dangerous.

K.B. Pellegrino I would go to Hotel Metropol, Moscow, the setting for “A Gentleman from Moscow.” I would feel the ghost of Count alexander Rostov in his jailed confinement, visit every room mentioned, and witness the table settings, staff, and Russian history happening as I shadowed the protagonist. - KBP
K.B. Pellegrino I stood on the bridge enthralled by the desolate abandoned old trestle span across from me with its wavering shadows similar to figures dancing in the twilight. Or, are they dancing; oh, no! - KBP

K.B. Pellegrino I don't get chills from bumps in the night or dark corners. I get chills when I realize that I have met a sociopath in my life. It is then that I must watch out for myself and others. Scary.
K.B. Pellegrino I am surrounded by a large family of several generations and am stimulated by their diversity of costumes and parties. One young couple wish to plan their wedding on Halloween and in costume. I sincerely hope that the bride won’t dress as “The Bride of Frankensteirn.” -K
K.B. Pellegrino I loved the counter cultural or perhaps cultural heroin of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” She has an integrity that is belied by her appearance and yes even her deeds; but she has an integrity for her life. This is in spite of her childhood experiences. -K
K.B. Pellegrino I am inspired by the weather and the beautiful turning colors of the trees to read novels whose settings are in New England and northern areas. Let’s not forget their drop dead beauty in this season. Thanks for asking! -K
K.B. Pellegrino I was invited to a 100 year old’s birthday party at a lack lustre old Italian Club and was jolted to reality. I saw sad situations, and also a wonderful man from Jamaica who was brought to the US during the second world war as labor for the war effort and was promised citizenship. He has worked as a gardener for the last forty years. His family in the US have all passed. He is a force to behold; a reminder that life can be wonderful at all ages; even at 100. He looks seventy eight. -K
K.B. Pellegrino By watching life around me from nature to family to neighbors to strangers and also various types of work. Of importance to me is that there is a moral compass measuring the horrors perpetrated and a sense that life will come around again. -K
K.B. Pellegrino A fourth Captain Beauregard mystery – Title is possibly Him and Me, but then again, maybe not. -K
K.B. Pellegrino Write what you know and what is important to YOU. You are writing for yourself as your first audience. After that, maybe you’ll have to make adjustments for the market; and maybe not. -K
K.B. Pellegrino Finding those millions of thoughts secreted in my brain and letting some of them escape. They’re chomping at the bit to get out. -K
