I write a different short story or story outline and then return to the other story when I need to escape the new project. It is a neverending cycle but it keeps me always writing something. I also go on hikes. Fresh air helps.

You must write poorly before you write well, so just write your story down. You will love/hate it. You will then have to rewrite, rewrite, rewrite to make it a story fit for other people to read.

I am preparing to launch Plastic Girl - the next book in the series - and am finishing the outline for the 3rd book. I also have a fantasy adventure that is almost ready. I do comics too so I have a short piece in an anthology that I just finished - Cthuhlu is Hard to Spell: The Terrible Twos. It's Kickstarter will launch on March 3rd. I am also finishing up my Pistil comic series Vol. 1 with the artists.

The spark of the idea was lit a long time ago when I read an article about the barge of plastic gathering in the middle of the ocean. I slowly became obsessed with the idea of plastic becoming sentient with each article I read about our world being filled up with plastic. My daughters and their interactions became the inspiration for me - thinking about them dealing with this garbage-filled world we are leaving them, most likely without us. I know they will navigate it better than us, and need to see it for myself in a way.
