D.L. Fisher Discipline. On days when writing seems impossible, I reread what I have written and edit. I don't get away from the work, because distance from creation can lead to loss of immersion, vitality, and urgency.
D.L. Fisher Creating from nothing. Pulling a story out of the infinite field of possibilities, and weaving it together using the skills of the craft and the drive of creativity. The most magical aspect of writing a novel is the appearance and development of characters who seem to take over and write themselves. :)
D.L. Fisher Finish what you start. Learn your craft. Don't sell out—be yourself and write what is in you to write. There is nothing wrong with a single focus on income by writing for the market. But the real joy—and the gift each individual can give the world—comes from free expression without the limitations of what's popular at any moment in time.
D.L. Fisher As D.L. Fisher, I am just finishing a book on how to stay healthy as a writer, soon to be released. I've been freelancing my whole adult life as an illustrator and then a writer, and I have always been interested in optimizing health. I know how to work in the same place I live, and I know how to do it well.

"How to Write and Stay Healthy: For Cave-Dwelling Authors & Other Keen Writers" is full of tips and tricks only a veteran freelancer like me can know.
D.L. Fisher Inspiration is fickle as all writers and creative people know. :) In my case, an initial desire to start writing gets me going, and this desire may not have any specific direction. After that, a story has it's own momentum and whether I'm inspired or not, I write or edit until the book is finished.
D.L. Fisher As D.L. Fisher, (I write under different pseudonyms), my ideas derive from my feelings. Though the stories and characters are imaginary, the original prompt to write has to do with an urge to express and explore some aspect of my life.
