For craft books, just go for it! You'll need to submit a proposal, so start putting together your outline and your project sketches. And don't get discouraged if a publisher doesn't feel your book is right for them at that time; there are many out there!

The truth about craft books is that there isn't too much writer's block that happens. By the time you're writing a book, you've already created a detailed outline as part of the proposal, so you pretty much know where you're going and what you need to say; it's just a matter of getting the wording right. I think we craft book authors are fortunate that we don't have to deal with characters whose motivations we're not quite sure of ourselves. :)

I'm working on a bunch of new quilt patterns and designs, of course! I do have some ideas for future books floating around in my head, too...

The seed for the idea behind The Quilter's Negative Space Handbook was planted when my local traditional quilt guild, after hearing me talk about modern quilting, was intrigued by the concept of negative space and asked for a talk specifically about that. In thinking about what I could say about negative space, I realized that what these traditionally-minded but modern-curious quilters needed were concrete steps to help them incorporate negative space into their quilts, so I put together a presentation that took them through the design of a few quilts step by step. In the process of doing so, I realized that I had designed a whole bunch of quilts *I* really wanted to make, which suggested that this process worked! After a great deal of further refinement, my new book is the result!
