Jodi Lea Pflaumer Writing helps me de-stress from my full-time job of teaching. However, the best part of being a writer is reading my finished books to my students and having them laugh at the right places and identify the figurative language along the way.
Jodi Lea Pflaumer I give myself a couple day break in case I just need my thoughts to rest. Then, if I'm still blocked, I'll write "something"..."anything". Sometimes it's just a lengthy FB post and other times I'll write a blog about whatever is overwhelming my thoughts instead of my current book/plot.
Jodi Lea Pflaumer Just do it.

Eventually, I'd like to pursue finding a publisher, so I can focus more on writing rather than getting them publicized and sold.

But, I always wanted to write a book, so last summer...I just did it, and now...I keep doing it.
Jodi Lea Pflaumer I'm working on the 3rd chapter book in my 4-book series entitled "Becoming the Beast" which is Jasper sharing how his reputation went from a kind lazy cat to a ferocious protective beast of a feline.

My picture book that I hope to finish by September is "Jasper's 12 Gifts of Christmas Break". My illustrator, who is also my nephew, actually gave me the idea to write a Christmas book.
Jodi Lea Pflaumer Life.
My children's books are inspired by my pets or my teaching experiences.
I'm also putting together a collection of poems I've written since my teenage years. Furthermore, a nonfiction set of writings is being written about "Lessons Learned from the Teacher's Desk" where I share experiences, feelings, and thoughts I've journeyed through over my 23 years of teaching.
Jodi Lea Pflaumer My current books are written in the voice of my cat, "Jasper".
My most recent chapter book, "Pet to Predator", was inspired by Jasper's adventures pursuing field mice, insects, and cat toys in our house.
My most recent picture book, "Jasper...The Figurative Language Feline", was inspired by the multiple books I've used to teach figurative language to my third grade students. I included things I've shared with my students as Jasper teaches the readers about various types of figurative language.
