S.P. Jayaraj My writer's block always seems to hit me when I'm not reading enough.
So whenever I have trouble immersing myself in my own world of creativity, I dive into someone else's.
Between that and walking, my writer's block is usually taken care of.
S.P. Jayaraj I've always felt blessed to be able to tell stories, and I feel particularly lucky that I grasped on to this vision of telling the stories of Adijari where I get to reimagine ideas that are partially inspired by my favorite global mythological tales. Some people go their whole lives without knowing what they were meant to do, and so despite all the trials and tribulations that I've gone through to pursue my dream, I'm grateful to have discovered it early on.

On occasion, draw and do other things, but creativity is a muscle that needs to be developed. Don't wait for that inspiration to hit. It might every once in a while, but treat this as work, because it is work. Sometimes you have a bad workday, sometimes you have a good workday, and sometimes you have a great workday, and the more days you write, the more great workdays you'll have.
S.P. Jayaraj I'm writing the next novel of #Adijari entitled 'A Gathering at Ayeshastra' on my patreon account.

There is so much more magic in this story than in SoZD and a greater integration of cultures which is why it is so much more exciting for me as well as more difficult. This story, more than SoZD, is demanding that I flesh out more of the world of Adijari.
S.P. Jayaraj It's just always on my mind. That isn't to say that I don't struggle sometimes. On those occasions I let the story in my head play out multiple times and test out different scenarios.
It can be frustrating to have characters in your head that you don't fully know or even understand because the only way to do so is to write them out, and that frustration can also be inspiring.
S.P. Jayaraj The first draft of 'The Secret of The Zipacna Dragons' was a 22-page single space story called Kraseren that I wrote when I was in high school. At the time I was playing a lot of Warcraft 2. It was in Graduate School when I expanded it into a complete novel within a fully realized world, but Warcraft 2 was an early inspiration.
