Writing for me is very expressive and emotional. I usually and almost always listen to classical piano in order to get my creative juice going. But yes, there are times when "writer's block" happens and I deal with it by not writing. I don't force the process, I let it be and when the block passes then I can continue.
Another strategy and this is if the story's concept is not clear, start with a sentence or a phrase or even just a word and build an idea around it. Gradually, the sentences will start to link up to one another, and voila a concept is born!
